I am looking forward to seeing you and enjoying revisiting Kenwood.
I have many happy memories of family visits and the free concerts.
I recall a wonderful concert of Handel's Firework Suit with fireworks
and not to forget Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture with real canons.

This weeks session on 24 September: with ED
Ed let us know that Cici will be taking the next four sessions (Ed is away for two long weekends)
He will be at both Christmas gigs.
Cici will be a one of the Christmas gigs.
It was a great session with lots of what I think are called plosives. A consonant sound made by completely blocking the airflow in the vocal tract and then suddenly releasing it with a burst of air. I think what were learning singing techniques that stop plosives from releasing too much air. These also strengthen all the muscles we use to breathe.
We sang:
O Susanna with plosive Plinka Plinka Plonks as a warm up.
Carol Kings: You've got a friend. Oh the temptation to be breathy in this beautiful song.
I Only Want to be You. - Lots a quick SPLATing and great phrasing.
Mbella Mama: Ed stressed the MmmmmBella. the Mmmmm helping to keep the B from expelling loads of air. (That's my take on it). Ed also pointed out that when singing songs we know well we can forget to be aware of our bodies and that because we know the songs well we can focus on our bodies. Is that a paradox?
Here is a quick link to recordings from the session to help support practicing our singing for breathing techniques.
